Chapter 8: Adrian

Adrian didn’t notice when the others left; he was too fixed on Maya’s eyes to see anything else. He wanted to press her against him and forget about everything.

They walked closer and their eyes met. Adrian’s mast was already pressing against his pants.

It’s too soon for that.

Her scent filled his nostrils, a combination of expensive perfume that matched her aura of success. He didn’t need a rich woman, but she was far more than rich; she was ambitious and thirsty for taking action.

And she was too used to dating men for less than a week and disposing of them. He was a shifter; he didn’t date anyone for a week unless he intended to remain by her side for the rest of his life.

“Okay,” he said. “I need to know what you expect from me.”

She raised onto her tiptoes and planted a soft kiss on his lips. His breath became rougher and his own lips pressed against hers with hunger.

No; he needed an answer. He moved his head back and said, “This isn’t an answer.”

A smile flashed on her lips and she remained with a satisfied expression. If she was going to play with him, he needed to know. “I don’t know what to expect,” she said, “but I know what I want.”

Oh, she was good at that game.

He could ask about her intentions later. He bent his head forward, undid her ponytail and dug his hand in her hair to move her neck. She parted her lips to invite him in and wrapped her arms around his neck to run her fingers through his hair.

No, you’re not in control of this.

He lowered one hand to her right breast and kneaded it, then lowered it to her ass and squeezed it hard. She jumped and giggled in surprise. He was going to lead that kiss. He pressed her waist against him and her scent filled him; he didn’t need to know more about her.

She’s the one.

Her hands moved to the neck of his shirt and she unbuttoned his top button. His cock hardened. She glanced down and took it as permission to continue.

He grasped her hands in one of his and looked straight at her. Her muscles tensed when he immobilized her, but she quickly grinned and playfully tried to pull her hands out of his grasp. She was perfect, she wasn’t scared of him, and she knew that a male shifter needed to lead.
